New Sample Tests on ECDL Foundation Website

ECDL Foundation provides a range of sample tests on our website to enable potential candidates and employers to understand ECDL / ICDL modules in more depth and prepare for testing.

Recent additions included ECDL / ICDL Advanced module sample tests for Office 2013 for the Advanced Word Processing, Advanced Spreadsheets, Advanced Database and Advanced Presentation modules.

In addition, sample tests for users of Windows 8.1 are now available for ECDL / ICDL IT Security and ECDL / ICDL Computer Essentials. Read more.


ICDL RVI Group and ICDL ASIA to Offer ICDL Throughout Myanmar

ICDL Asia and RVi Group have entered into an agreement to make ICDL available throughout Myanmar.

This is the first large scale, implementation of ICDL in Myanmar, a country which had 1% internet penetration in 2012. The announcement was made during Enterprise Ireland’s trade mission to Singapore and Malaysia which was led by Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD. Read more.

The e-Skills for Jobs campaign is taking place throughout 2014 across 30 countries in Europe. We encourage all organisations involved in e-skills, both professional and end-user, to get involved in national activities surrounding this campaign by getting in touch with their national point of contact. Suriname Minister Congratulates ECDL Candidates

On 12 February, Soewarto Moestadja, Minister of Interior (biza) of Suriname congratulated the candidates who achieved ECDL Certification at an official awards ceremony. The minister was pleased that the government was involved in this project and acknowledged that this marks the starting point for certification of all officers to this internationally recognised standard. ICDL Endorsed by the National Learning Institute in Costa Rica

The National Learning Institute (Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje - INA), Autonomos Institution of the Government of Costa Rica has accredited two technical programmes based on the ICDL certification, which were presented by ICDL Latino America accreditation partner, Tecmedia IT Academy. The National Learning Institute is responsible for organising and coordinating the National System of Vocational Training across all economic sectors in accordance with the guidelines of the Executive. ICDL GCC Foundation Extends its Support to the 2014 Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is an annual global campaign promoting the safe and responsible use of the internet. This year was celebrated in over 100 countries on February 11, 2014 under the theme ‘Let’s create a better internet together. As a staunch advocate of cyber safety, ICDL GCC Foundation continuously conducts campaigns on safe Internet etiquettes, digital safety education and appropriate online behaviour. It has recently launched Cyber Safety Workshops targeting law enforcement, government, educational, teachers, parents and youth across the GCC. Read more.


ICDL Collaboration Between ICDL Africa and ICDL Asia Leads to Positive Engagement with the Government of Sierre Leone

ICDL Asia partner Agung Sidayu, Chairman of YPI - Wira Tata Buana, was invited by the Honourable Minister of Information and Communication Alhaji Alpha Kanu to visit Sierra Leone in January, and at the request of ICDL Africa he took the opportunity to advocate the adoption of ICDL during the visit.

The visit provided the perfect platform to share information on the ICDL programme, and the representatives from Sierra Leone were receptive and positive about the effectiveness of ICDL. They are working on recognising the programme in Sierra Leone, and implementing it in secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

The ICDL Africa team will be making a follow-up visit to West Africa in the coming months to discuss implementation plans arising out of these high-level meetings. Read more.

Measuring ICDL Employment in Europe

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission recently published a new paper providing insights on how to describe the ICT employment landscape in the EU countries. This paper argues that the ICT employment landscape can be captured from three different angles: employment in ICT-intensive sectors, employment in ICT-intensive occupations and people employed with ICT-specific skills.
