2nd WorldWide Cybersecurity Summit Update.

Financial services, Cyber crime, Cyber diplomacy, Organization of Islamic conference, Global participation

1. Financial Services: The UK Investment Banking Information Security SIG and the EastWest Institute have agreed on a partnership, which will include a new breakthrough group at the Summit on the special needs of the financial services sector. Existing breakthrough groups that are related include International Priority Communications, Global Emergency Response, and Measuring the Cybersecurity Problem. The breakthrough groups are voluntary teams drawn from the private sector, government, technical specialists, and related agencies to devise and advocate concrete improvements in agreements, standards and/or policies to address vulnerabilities or threats to information and network security.

2. Cyber Crime: Leading international experts on cyber crime from the small EWI working group, who include Judge Stein Schjolberg from Norway and Pavan Duggal from India, will be reporting the results of their work over the preceding nine months.

3. Cyber Diplomacy: The EastWest Institute is negotiating with partners to launch a new initiative on cyber diplomacy at the summit.

4. OIC CERT: Rahayu Azlina Ahmad, from CyberSecurity Malaysia, will present the conclusions of a peer-reviewed paper on the role of the CERT of the Organization of Islamic Conference in forging international collaboration for cybersecurity. This paper will be one of around 25 papers presented in special “poster sessions” at the Summit in partnership with the IEEE Communications Society.

5. Global Participation – An Indication of Registrants to Date: From the UK: Vodafone, BAE Systems, Knightsbridge Cybersystems, Metropolitan Police, Home Office, BAA, Bank of England, FCO, Barclays Bank, Financial Services Authority, Information Assurance Advisory Council, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Goldman Sachs, Oxford University (Martin School), London First, the Ditchley Foundation, and the Institute for Security and Resilience Studies (UCL). From the USA: Microsoft, Deloitte, AT&T, Chertoff Group, Akin Gump, Verisign, Symantec, Bell Labs, Comcast, eBay, State Department, United States Federal Reserve, and the FBI.
